Introduction

In the fall of 1992, while seeking a new challenge in my photography career I embarked on an adventure. My idea was to publish a picture story of the Delaware River from the confluence of the East and West branches to the Delaware Memorial Bridge, a distance of over 300 miles.

As an diversion from an unhappy full time job environment, I spent many weekends and days off traveling the river valley and obtaining the initial images contained in this online photo story.

Through this project I have developed a greater respect and admiration for the Delaware. When I initially had the idea for this project, it seemed like a natural subject. Since I was very small, I have lived in close proximity to the Delaware River.

Today, I continue to live, work and play along the banks of the Delaware, and marvel at this rich, diverse natural resource. Despite disasterous floods in April 2005 and again in June 2006, which left the basement of our riverside home a total loss, my family and I never considered moving away from the scenic river valley.

I hope you enjoy the images of the Delaware River in this site. Additional images will be added periodically. If you are an elementry student conducting research for a school project, you are welcome to use any or all of this material without cost. If you need additional information or larger images, please contact me at the e-mail address below.

The idea for publishing this project on the World Wide Web came from Rick Smolan, origionator of the "Day in the Life" series of publications, and creator of the Day in the Life of the Web.

I'd like to thank my family, friends and co-workers for their help, support and ideas past and present during this project. Without their help and encouragement this project wouldn't have been possible.
